ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -- Dorney Park has announced that its newest coaster, Iron Menace, now has its first-of-its-kind inversion installed.
The first ever tilted loop on a dive roller coaster was connected, getting the coaster one step closer to completion. The titled loop is a vertical loop tilted slightly on its side.
The loop precedes the final inversion, a corkscrew, which will take riders over the Zephyr train, which closed earlier last year so it could be re-routed through the station of Iron Menace.
The park has also announced a new themed area called "Steel Yard." As quoted in the release, the area will feature a new restaurant and other attractions such as:
- Iron Mill Grill & Bar: The new restaurant and bar will offer a delectable menu featuring mouthwatering chicken sandwiches, pierogis, flatbreads, pulled pork sandwiches, and more. Additionally, the bar will serve a selection of craft beers for guests aged 21 and over. The restaurant and bar will also feature a new seating patio, replacing the previous Monster ride pad, providing guests with comfortable seating and shade.
- Steel Yard Gifts: Adjacent to the Possessed roller coaster, guests will find Steel Yard Gifts, a new shop offering a wide range of Iron Menace and Dorney Park merchandise.
- MT Buckets: The beloved Cedar Creek Flyers ride will be transformed into MT Buckets, incorporating the Steel Yard theme. Naderman assured families and children that they will continue to experience the exhilaration of spinning high in the sky, while enjoying the breathtaking views created by the construction of Iron Menace.
Iron Menace will be Pennsylvania's, and the region's, first dive coaster. It will feature a 160-foot tall lift, four inversions, and a 95-degree first drop. The first drop will also feature a "hold and dive" element, where riders will hang over the drop before being released into the dive.
The coaster is expected to open later his year.
