(WHTM) - A Pennsylvania lawmaker is proposing legislation that would lift all prohibitions on Sunday hunting.

State Rep. Mandy Steele (D-Allegheny) says her bill would allow the Game Commission to decide when and how Sunday hunting is permitted.

In 2019 lawmakers passed a bill designating just three Sundays a year for hunting and fur taking.

Steele, a member of the House Game & Fisheries Committee, says the three Sunday hunting days "have remained successful" and repealing limits on Sunday hunting would align Pennsylvania with other states.

"Under this legislation, the Game Commission will have the authority to decide when and how Sunday hunting is permitted, with the best interest of wildlife management and environmental preservation in mind," said Steele.

During the 2023-24 hunting seasons Pennsylvanians can hunt on November 12, November 19, and November 26 for multiple types of game.
