(WHTM) — The Pennsylvania Superior Court ruled Monday that convicted felons do not have the right to own a firearm, affirming a law already in place.

The appeals case was heard after a man in Chester County was sentenced for prohibited possession of a firearm after he was previously convicted of a charge that made him ineligible to possess a firearm.

The Chester County District Attorney's office declared the ruling a "victory," saying the panel of three judges "ruled that the case of NY State Rifle Association v. Bruen, a 2022 United States Supreme Court decision, did not create a right for felons to possess firearms."
