(WHTM) - State Representative Matt Gergley (D-Allegheny) was hospitalized after experiencing a medical emergency during the holidays, according to House Democrats.
Gergley replaced Lt. Governor Austin Davis in the State House two years ago after Davis was elected Lt. Governor in 2022. He was re-elected after running unopposed in the 2024 general election.
The 35th House District includes McKeesport and other communities southeast of Pittsburgh.
Gergley's hospitalization comes as state lawmakers prepare to elect a Speaker on Tuesday. House Democrats enter the session with a one seat majority and it's unclear whether Gergley will be able to attend the vote.
