Over 80% of Pennsylvania mail ballots returned as of Election Day eve

(WHTM)-- With Election Day less than 24 hours away, 19% of Pennsylvania mail ballot voters have yet to return their ballots to County Election Offices.

According to the Department of State, 81% of mail ballots have been returned as of Monday morning, just one day before the 2024 General Election. Pennsylvania mail ballot voters have just over a day to return their ballot before the voter deadline at 8:00 p.m., Nov. 5.

During this election cycle, there were 2,197,915 mail-in ballot applications approved in Pennsylvania. As of today, 1,790,319 mail ballots have been returned to county election offices, the Department of State says.

Across all of Pennsylvania's 67 counties, 1,200,466 registered Democrats, 715,287 registered Republicans, and 282,162 Independent/third-party applications were approved by the board, per the Department of State.

At the party level, 83% of Democrat mail ballots, 82% Republican, and 72% of other mail ballots have been returned.

Polls open at 7:00 a.m. on Election Day and close at 8:00 p.m. Voters in line by the 8:00 p.m. deadline will still have the opportunity to vote.
