CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) - Police officers fatally shot an armed man near a Butler County golf course on Tuesday.
Pennsylvania State Police say around 10:30 a.m. on July 2 Cranberry Township Police were called for a suspicious man who pulled his vehicle over near the entrance to the Cranberry Heights Golf Course.
The man, who left the area before police arrived, was said to be armed with a rifle. Officers located the vehicle with several firearms inside but were unable to locate a suspect.
At approximately 3 p.m. officers located the man in a wooded area near the golf course. Officers confronted the armed man, identified as Logan Cumberland, 37, of Ellwood City, and fatally shot him.
No officers were injured during the incident. Multiple police departments, including the Pennsylvania State Police Aviation Unit, had responded to the area.
State Police and the Butler County District Attorney's office are investigating the incident.
