PENNSYLVANIA (WHTM) -- According to the Department of Labor & Industry, a frozen food delivery company recently announced that it will be closing six of its Pennsylvania-based locations later this Summer.
According to a recently submitted WARN Notice, Cygnus Home Services, LLC (AKA "Yelloh"), which specializes in the delivery of frozen foods, will be laying off 55 of their employees across six of their Pennsylvania locations, which can be found in:
- Berwick, PA
- Carlisle, PA
- DuBois, PA
- Ebensburg, PA
- Erie, PA
- Jessup, PA
The WARN Notice says that these layoffs will be effective starting on July 27, 2024.
The company told abc27 news that these layoffs will soon be followed by the official closing of all six of these Pennsylvania facilities, due to lack of profitability.
"At Yelloh®, our mission is to deliver extraordinary food and experiences to our customers, and we love serving communities with our iconic yellow trucks," the company said. "That’s why we are saddened to share that we will be closing our operations in these Pennsylvania locations by the end of July 2024. Despite continued efforts to turn our business around locally, we simply do not see a profitable path forward for these depots. We are committed to taking care of our impacted team members and will work to support our customers in their transition to our online or app-based ordering solutions."
According to Cygnus Home Service's website, back in October 2023, the company decided to close 90 Yelloh delivery centers, which impacted about 750 employees.
In turn, the company had said that they would direct their focus instead on their locations in Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
