CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) - A Chester County man is facing homicide and murder charges after two family members were found shot to death.

The Chester County District Attorney's office says Roger Hanks, 76, of Kennett Square, is facing murder charges for "senselessly" shooting his wife and 37-year-old daughter on Thursday evening.

Pennsylvania State Police say they responded to the 200 block of Wiltshire Drive in East Marlborough Township and found Hanks in the garage and the two deceased family members in the home.

District Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe said, “the Defendant senselessly shot and killed his family because of a basic dispute. It is unfathomable that anyone would react this way. I want to thank the Pennsylvania State Police who acted quickly and arrested the Defendant after being dispatched to the scene.”

Hanks is facing charges including criminal homicide, murder of the fire degree, and murder of the third degree. He remains in the Chester County Prison without bail.
