PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (WHTM) -- Family Dollar will soon be closing six store locations across Pennsylvania.

According to a recent WARN notice posted by the Department of Labor & Industry, six different Family Dollar stores are closing in the Philadelphia area. These locations can be found at:

  • 1325 Point Breeze Avenue, Philadelphia
  • 4701 West Girard Avenue, Philadelphia
  • 1925 West Allegheny Avenue, Philadelphia
  • 1955 West Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia
  • 2201 West Cambria Street, Philadelphia
  • 2459 Kensington Avenue, Philadelphia

The WARN notice says that these closures will officially go into effect on April 20, 2024. These closures are expected to affect a total of 62 employees.

NewsNation previously reported back on March 23, when Dollar Tree, Inc., which owns Dollar Tree and Family Dollar, first announced that it would be closing about 1,000 stores in hopes of improving profitability.

Specifically, the company said that they would be closing about 600 stores in the first half of fiscal 2024, followed by an additional 370 stores over the next several years.

“As we look forward in 2024, we are accelerating our multi-price rollout at Dollar Tree and taking decisive action to improve profitability and unlock value at Family Dollar,” Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO of Dollar Tree, Inc. said.
