ELGIN, Illinois (WKBN)- A Great Value product that was in Walmart in several states has been recalled, according to a press release by the Food & Drug Administration.

In the press release, John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc (JBSS) announced that it is voluntarily recalling a limited amount of 8.25 oz Great Value Honey Roasted Cashews.

Reports said that the cashews may contain undeclared coconut and milk. The FDA said that people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to coconut or milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they eat the cashews.

The FDA said that the recall happened after a consumer reported finding coconut cashews in a container that was labeled as honey roasted cashews. After an investigation, it was determined that a limited number of incorrect honey roasted cashew labels were applied to the plastic cans of coconut cashews during the manufacturing process.

The affected cashews have the following details:

  • Description: Great Value Honey Roasted Cashews
  • Best if used by Jul 08 2025 GH2 (located on the bottom of the plastic can)
  • 8.25 oz plastic can with a blue wrap around label
  • UPC: 078742133348

Walmart.com said that the cashews were distributed in numerous states including Ohio and Pennsylvania. The FDA said that no adverse reactions have been reported to date.

The FDA asks that you don't eat the cashews. They ask that you discard them or return them to a Walmart store for a full refund.
