DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- Pennsylvania State Police are cracking down on drunk drivers this weekend.
Extra State Troopers will be on patrol conducting DUI checkpoints this Saint Patrick's Day weekend. Last year, statewide there were 65 crashes involving impaired drivers and there were two deaths.
"Use common sense when you're out and about this weekend," Lt. Adam Reed of Pennsylvania State Police said. "Getting a DUI simply isn't worth it. In addition to potential jail time, license suspension and thousands of dollars in court fees it's really not worth it. Additionally, the most serious consequences could be injuring yourself or injuring others."
Troopers say they keep their checkpoints moving by asking a few questions and then sending sober drivers on their way.
