(WHTM)-- Multiple Midstate counties are ranked in the top 10 for most human-trafficking offenses filed across Pennsylvania, according to a report from PACourts.
PACourts released data highlighting the counties in Pennsylvania with the highest number of human trafficking offenses, and multiple Midstate counties made the top ten list - with two taking the number one and two spots.
According to the data, 1,235 human trafficking offenses were filed on 366 offenses over the past five years.
This data encompasses instances of human rights abuse where people profit from the exploitation of others through the use of force, fraud, or coercion to manipulate victims into sexual acts or services in exchange for profit, PACourts said.
York and Lancaster Counties made the bottom of the top ten list, with 3% of Pennsylvania's total human trafficking offenses filed in each county, according to PACourts.
On the opposite end of the list sits Franklin and Dauphin Counties. Dauphin County came in at number two, with 11% of the state's human-trafficking offenses filed there. Over the past five years, 17% of human trafficking offenses were filed in Franklin County, the most out of all 67 Counties in Pennsylvania.
