FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- A former treasurer for a Pennsylvania city who stole over $100k, and spent thousands of dollars a day for gambling may spend the next decade of her life in prison, according to a news release.

The Attorney General's Office said in a release on Wednesday that former City of Uniontown Treasurer Antoinette Hodge was sentenced to just under two and up to 10 years in prison for stealing funds.

A county jury convicted Hodge, who was elected to the position in 2019, last month on charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, and other offenses.

“The defendant has now been held accountable for dishonoring her position of public trust by deceiving taxpayers and stealing funds meant for the city of Uniontown,” Attorney General Henry said in a statement. “Our investigation showed that she, on many days, spent hundreds of dollars of taxpayers’ money on lottery games.”

Over $106,000 was stolen by Hodge between 2020 and 2021, and she spent more than $1,500 a day on lottery games, the AG's Office said. She failed to do her main responsibility, the release states, which was to collect and deposit all cash and checks received by the tax office.

Senior Deputy Attorney General Kara Rice prosecuted the case.
