(WHTM) -- If the last year has shown anything, it is that Pennsylvanians love their liquor.

Wine and spirit sales topped $3.18 billion, the 2023-24 fiscal report by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board shows. That is $29.7 million worth more liquor than what was sold last year.

Out of that billions of dollars, the PLCB contributed a total of $868.3 million to state and local governments and other beneficiaries for the fiscal year. The PLCB also contributed $811.2 million to the General Fund, which finances the state's schools, health and human services programs, law enforcement and public safety initiatives.

Other contributions include $33 million to the Pennsylvania State Police for liquor control enforcement efforts.

Millions in grants were also authorized by the PLCB to go toward Pennsylvania's beer and wine industries and also to reduce underage and dangerous drinking.
