(WHTM) -- A Pennsylvania man being recruited to be a poll watcher by a representative of a state political party allegedly threatened to kill them and 'use their skin as toilet paper', according to the Department of Justice.
An indictment was unsealed Monday, charging John Pollard, 62 of Philadelphia, with one count of transmitting interstate threats, the DOJ said.
Pollard allegedly texted the following threats in Sept.; “I will KILL YOU IF YOU DON’T ANSWER ME!,” “Your days are numbered, B****!” and GONNA F***ING FIND YOU AND SKIN YOU ALIVE AND USE YOUR SKIN FOR F***ING TOILET PAPER, YOU F***ING KKK**T!”
There was an online post that the victim, who was working in their capacity as an employee of a state political party, created. The DOJ says the post was recruiting volunteers to "help[] observe at the polls on Election Day” and also had the victim's phone number.
Pollard first texted that he was "interested in being a poll watcher," before sending the threats, the DOJ says.
If convicted, Pollard faces a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison.
