(WHTM)-- Over 350,000 bowhunters across Pennsylvania are preparing to their arrows and track big game this weekend as archery hunting season kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 5.

With the season right around the corner, the Pennsylvania Game Commission has some last-minute reminders for bowhunters.

The game commission encourages hunters to be aware of their surroundings. It's important not to get carried away while hunting. Always check for trespassing signs or purple paint to avoid potentially hunting on private property.

According to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, hunters aren't required to wear fluorescent orange while hunting deer, bear, or elk during archery season in Pennsylvania. However, many organizations highly recommend its use, especially moving through the brush.

Experienced hunters understand the importance of high ground, but it also can be dangerous. The game commission encourages hunters to wear harnesses while hunting from elevated surfaces.

The Pennsylvania 2024-2025 archery deer season is Oct. 5–Nov. 16, Sunday, Nov. 17, Nov.18–22, and Dec. 26–Jan. 20, according to the game commission.

Remember, licenses are required for all forms of hunting. To learn more information, visit the Pennsylvania Game Commission website.
