CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police say a man wanted in York County was fatally shot last week by police.
The man killed by Christiansburg Officers has been identified as 31-year-old Ronald Allen Troskoski from Huntingdon, PA. Troskoski was wanted in York County and Montgomery County, VA on multiple charges, police say.
On Friday, September 20, a 9-11 call was received about a suspicious person in the Mud Pike area of Montgomery County. Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies were the first to respond and arrived to find Troskoski allegedly displaying a knife.
The incident escalated into a foot chase that ended when officers say Troskoski allegedly pointed a “weapon” at them. This resulted in officers opening fire and killing Troskoski at the scene.
VSP said the investigation is now being turned over to the Montgomery County Commonwealth Attorney's Office for adjudication and will have no further comment on the investigation.
According to Pennsylvania court records, Troskoski had been released on his own recognizance while awaiting arraignment on a criminal trespassing charge in York City. Records indicate Troskoski failed to appear and his bail was revoked on September 5.
