(WHTM) -- Analysts gave their viewpoints of the Tuesday night debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Our analysts usually disagree with each other, but they both say this was a relatively civilized, back and forth debate.

It started with Vice President Harris going over to former President Trump's podium for a handshake -- the first at a presidential debate since 2016.

Remember, this was the first time they've actually met. It was after when some of the attacks started up. Many of them, swirling around the economy, immigration, abortion and, at times, online conspiracies.

Our Republican analyst telling us both sides landed some good punches.

"I think they're both laying out their plans, both attacking the other plans which is how debates go," Christopher Nicholas of Eagle Consulting said. "You wanna play offense on your issues and make the other side play defense. Kamala Harris had to play defense on her stance on fracking. Trump has for the most part stayed on his answers both defending himself and going after her."

A lot of their focus tonight was around Donald Trump. Remember -- this was Harris' first presidential debate and Trump's seventh.

"He really seemed entirely rattled tonight," Denielle Gross of Clear point Communications said. "Going off on tangents, not speaking in complete sentences and talking about conspiracy theories. The Donald Trump that we've seen tonight is not the same man who won the presidential election. This is the man who, as Harris said was fired by 81 million voters."
