WOLF TOWNSHIP, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials confirmed a state police-involved shooting is under investigation in Lycoming County.

The Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling confirmed with 28/22 News the office is investigating a state-police-involved shooting of 62-year-old Gary Lee McCartney.

The shooting occurred Saturday, September 7 at a mobile home on Boak Avenue in Wolf Township.

According to state police, McCartney exited his trailer and started an argument with a man working on a nearby trailer. McCartney was seen holding a gun and making verbal threats, PSP stated.

Once troopers arrived on the scene they said McCartney had barricaded himself in the home and fired one round of his gun at state police.

The second time McCartney pointed his gun at troopers, a PA State Police SERT member shot him, and McCartney was pronounced dead on the scene, as stated in the release.

Authorities say this was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.
