ERIE, PA (WJET/WFXP) -- A woman is getting ready to represent Pennsylvania on the national stage.
Christine Vasui is currently Miss Wheelchair Pennsylvania. She's leaving Sunday for Grand Rapids, Michigan where she will be competing for Miss Wheelchair America.
It's a week-long competition. Vasui's platform highlights the importance of personal care attendants.
She said thanks to the help of personal care attendants, people with disabilities can do the same things as everyone else. Vasui said she's honored to represent Pennsylvania and excited to meet the other contestants.
"I just want to be able to make a difference, win or lose, the experience has given me opportunities that I would never have expected," she said.
Vasui was the 2024 winner of the JET 24 and FOX 66 Remarkable Woman contest. For more information on how to vote for Vasui for Miss Wheelchair America, click here.
