LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -- A Lancaster man is in jail for allegedly selling an undercover officer crack cocaine and leading police on a high-speed chase, according to a criminal complaint.
When police pulled Saul Contreras-Albaladejo, 38, of Lancaster, over in the 400 block of S Duke Street on July 10, he drove away from officers at a high rate of speed, according to the charges filed.
Before the chase, Contreras-Albaladejo had allegedly sold crack cocaine to an undercover officer at a nearby Turkey Hill, according to police. After he left the parking lot, police said they pulled Contreras-Albaladejo over for not using a turn signal.
Contreras-Albaladejo then allegedly blew through stop signs, drove the wrong way down one-way streets, nearly hit cars when he crossed the double yellow lines, during the pursuit that police said was through a highly populated neighborhood. The charges did not say how fast Contreras-Albaladejo was driving.
Contreras-Albaladejo faces felony charges of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, criminal use of a communication facility, conspiracy and manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver. He also faces over a dozen summary charges for traffic violations.
Contreras-Albaladejo is currently locked up in Lancaster County Prison with bail set at $65,000 and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 13.
