(WHTM)-- Not everybody in school gets a free lunch and many students accrue quite a tab, but the state House passed a bill to eliminate school meal debt.

It would establish an $80 million fund within the department of education to assist public schools in paying off meal debt.

It also prohibits schools from giving students who are in arrears alternative meal or taking action against their families.
