HAZLE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was arrested after police say he chased and injured two children with a machete in Luzerne County.
According to State Police, on Wednesday around 1:00 a.m. troopers patrolling the area of North Church Street in Hazle Township, near Hazleton, saw a woman standing in the middle of the road, waving her hands and crying.
The woman told troopers that her son and daughter were currently being chased by a man wearing a mask and swinging a machete, police said.
Troopers say they saw the woman's daughter run into a nearby Taco Bell for her safety and employees locked all surrounding doors. The son of the woman came running towards troopers stating he was slashed by the man wearing a mask, according to state police.
The suspect was found in a nearby alley and identified as 37-year-old Anthony Brotzman. While being arrested troopers said Brotzman had a mask in one hand and a machete in the other.
Brotzman was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, night prowling, and disorderly conduct.
