(WHTM) -- Two members of a Pennsylvania motorcycle club were convicted last week on federal robbery charges.
Solomon Rodriguez, 34, of Reading, and Steven Wong, 43, of Shalotte, N.C., were facing Hobbs Act Robbery, firearms, and related charges. Hobbs Act Robbery relates to robbery affecting interstate or foreign commerce, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The two were members of the Infamous Ryders Motorcycle Club's Schuylkill County chapter, of which Wong was president.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said Wong recruited members of the club "to participate in a series of brutal home-invasion robberies" in Berks and Schuylkill counties.
"Wong rewarded loyal members involved in the conspiracy with money and free drugs," the U.S. Attorney's Office said. The robberies targeted street-level drug dealers and involved the use of a fully-automatic assault rifle.
“This group acted with extreme violence, invading people’s homes with machine guns drawn, and committing crimes that brutalized their victims,” said Eric DeGree, Special Agent in Charge of the ATF Philadelphia Field Division. “Though our cooperative efforts with the Pennsylvania State police and local police departments, we successfully brought these criminals to justice and ended their trail of crimes, making our communities safer again.”
