HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM)-- Pennsylvania received new laws that revolve around 9/11 remembrance in schools, cremation, travel insurance policies, and disabled veteran's benefit payments.

The four new laws, HB 1097, HB 1246, SB 126 and SB 943, were signed by Governor Shapiro Tuesday.

Pennsylvania schools are now required to hold a moment of silence in observation of September 11th each year and the education department will develop a curriculum for students about the importance of 9/11 under HB 1097.

The minimal regulated temperature for cremation in Pennsylvania has been lowered from 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit to 1,600 degrees Fahrenheit under HB 1246. This is to keep cremation equipment running since the need for the services has doubled, meaning the equipment has been running continuously in higher temperatures, causing it to burn out quicker, according to HB 1246.

Under SB 126, the disabled veteran benefit payment will not be included in any calculation for any Commonwealth benefit or program, making sure that payment will not disqualify the veteran from state assistance programs.

Changes have also been made to travel insurance in Pennsylvania under SB 943 to update policies that were implemented in 2018,
