2 dogs rescued after fire early Wednesday morning

Erie, Pa. (WJET/WFXP) — A single-family home catches fire in the early morning hours Wednesday morning.

Crews responding to reports of a fully-involved structure fire in the 400 block of East 11th Street around 5 a.m.

Crews were met with thick black smoke showing from the attic of the building, the fire leaving a hole in the roof.

First responders eventually knocked out the fire but the structure sustained heavy damage as a result.

Fire investigators were on scene but no cause has been determined at this time.

Thankfully, no one was home at the time of the fire. However, one dog found on the first floor was rescued as well as another found in the backyard. Both were reportedly found safe and unharmed.
