HARTLEY TOWNSHIP, UNION COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A state park lake in Union County is closed to swimmers due to safety concerns.

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) says swimming is prohibited until further notice at Raymond B. Winter State Park's Halfway Lake.

The problem is elevated levels of bacteria.

The DCNR says the day-use area remains open, and that the park will test the water daily and re-open swimming when bacteria counts fall to acceptable levels.
