(WHTM) - More than 28,000 citations were issued to drivers during Memorial Day weekend by Pennsylvania State Troopers.
State Police say during the four day Memorial Day weekend enforcement, Troopers investigated 756 crashes that resulted in 181 injuries and six fatalities. Intoxicated drivers were a factor in 46 crashes and one was fatal.
Troopers also arrested 467 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
A total of 28,036 citations were issued by State Police, including 8,834 for speeding; 1,234 for not wearing a seat belt; and 172 for not securing children in safety seats.
The number of crashes was up from the 651 reported in 2023 and two more people were killed over the holiday weekend than last year. The number of DUI crashes was down from 59 to 46 this year.
