(WHTM) - Democrat Janelle Stelson has been named to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's "Red to Blue" list as national Democrats seek to unseat incumbent Republican Congressman Scott Perry.
The DCCC says their list of 25 Democrats "is a highly competitive and tested program at the DCCC that equips top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to run strong campaigns."
Stelson, a former news anchor in the region, defeated a crowded field of Democrats in the April primary to set up the November general election against Perry in the 10th Congressional District.
“I have been listening to and advocating for Central Pennsylvanians for decades and it is time we had a member of Congress who represents all of us, not just the fringe of one party," said Stelson. "I am proud to be added to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's Red to Blue program in my campaign to defeat career politician Scott Perry in November and restore commonsense leadership to Central Pennsylvania.”
In response to Stelson's primary victory last month, Perry said, in part, "Our neighbors know me, they know I fight tirelessly for them, and they know I do what I said I would – which is fiercely defend their freedoms, their financial well-being, and their safety and security. My opponent seeks to continue the burden of the destructive Biden Agenda on the people of the 10th Congressional District, while refusing to even move to the district – amongst her other radical Leftist ideologies. I look forward to once again earning the support of Voters of the 10th Congressional District as we fight to regain a stronger America and the growth, strength, and prosperity she once knew.”
Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District includes all of Dauphin County and portions of Cumberland and York counties. According to the 2022 U.S. Census, there are approximately 779,565 residents in the 10th District.
U.S. Army veteran Ashley Ehasz is also highlighted on the DCCC's list in her campaign against incumbent Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick in Pennsylvania's 1st District. Fitzpatrick, the brother of the late, longtime Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, defeated Ehasz in his 2022 re-election bid with 54.9% of the vote.
