Penn State paramotor involved in accident at Philipsburg airport

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) – The cause of a paramotor accident in Philipsburg that injured one person is under federal investigation.

On April 16, around 8:30 a.m., an unmanned powered parachute at the Mid-State Regional Airport in Philipsburg, Centre County became involved in an accident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released an aviation investigation notification of the accident.

According to this initial report, the Opale Paramotor is owned and operated by the Penn State Applied Research Laboratory.

No deaths were reported as a result of this crash, according to NTSB, but one person on the ground suffered a serious injury. The aircraft was damaged as well.

A cause for the accident has not yet been determined and the NTSB will release a report at the conclusion of the investigation.
